It is encouraged that families keep an emergency preparedness kit easily accessible somewhere in their homes. You want to make sure that you use something that you can grab quickly or that can roll on wheels.

What to Include in your Emergency Preparedness Kit

  • 2L of water per person per day
  • Non-perishable food
  • Manual can opener
  • Medications
  • Battery operated flashlight
  • Battery operated radio
  • Scissors or pocket knife
  • Whistle
  • Duct tape
  • Toilet paper and other toiletries
  • Blankets
  • Change of clothes
  • Extra shoes
  • Important documents: phone number, copy of insurance policy
  • Extra set of keys for your car or hosue
  • Cash
  • First aid kit
  • Garbage bags
  • Pet food
  • Copy of emergency plan
