Have you ever been halfway through dinner only to be interrupted by a telemarketer calling you?  Have you ever looked at your call display on your phone to not know the number and unsure if you should pick up as it may be an unwanted phone call from a telemarketer?   Sometimes, there is a pause when you answer and then next, a sales speech has started for an unwanted product or service. If you could put an end to these phone calls would you?  If your answer is yes, then perhaps the do not call list registry can help.

Overview

The Do Not Call List is simply a list of names and contact numbers of the people who want to eliminate unwanted telemarketing calls. In 2003, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) started a National Do Not Call Registry as a response to the increasing count of people complaining to be swamped from telemarketing calls. After an overwhelming support onto the registry, the FTC reviewed the telemarketing sales rule (TSR) and made certain required changes. Now, registered users can choose whether they want the telemarketing calls on their business or personal phone lines.

Registration

You can visit the Do Not Call List Registry website and register three phone numbers at a time. You can also register one number at a single time by calling at the toll free number and following the voice commands. FTC disbars the telemarketers from using the automatic dialers to makes calls, while they still can dial cell numbers in a manual way. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email that you have to click on the link within 72 hours to complete the process.

Time Period

After you confirm the registration, your number will be listed on the Do Not Call List the next working day. Telemarketers have a time frame of 31 days to remove a contact number off their calling list and automatic dialers. The registries do not expire automatically and you can do so by visiting the website or calling the toll free numbers.

The do not call list makes it easy for you to have uninterrupted meals with your family from unwanted telemarketers!
